Bathing chinchillas in the sand is an integral part of their natural behavior. The grains of sand mined from the deposit, formed 130 million years ago, are very fine and have rounded edges. A regular bath in the sand ensures chinchillas' silky softness and at the same time relieves them of stress.

Instructions for use: fill a reasonably large bowl with a higher rim, preferably a small round aquarium, with a layer of sand 3 to 5 cm thick. Place a bowl of sand in a cage or other chinchilla dwelling every evening for about 30 minutes. After bathing, remove the bowl from the cage and cover it to prevent contamination. Top up the sand regularly or sieve it. Replace contaminated sand with new one.

Thoroughly clean the bowl at least once a month.
